M&R/M&H Wins Silver Microphone Awards for
Copper Development Association National Radio Advertising Competition

Stamford, Connecticut -- Radio commercials developed by Marquardt & Roche/Meditz & Hackett for the Copper Development Association took the National Winner and three National Finalists awards in the 1997 Silver Microphone competition as top individual commercials for institutional or professional clients.

The winning commercials were humorous spots educating homebuyers on the benefits of copper plumbing. "While plumbing is an important part of our daily lives, it is not a topic that naturally draws listeners' attention," said Ken Geremia, manager of communications for the Copper Development Association. "But the creativity of the spots grabs listeners and then strongly makes our selling points. In addition to winning awards, research has shown this campaign to be extremely effective in changing consumer attitudes about plumbing materials."

The Silver Microphone Award competition seeks to select the best local and regional radio commercials in the United States.

Copper Development Association's radio campaign has been running in six major metropolitan markets throughout the United States.

The M&R/M&H team behind the strategy and humor of the winning commercials was associate creative director Lisa Plumeri and account supervisor Bill Hinds.
