MRP
holds winning hand at New York ACE Awards
Stamford, Connecticut In a remarkable showing
against large New York agencies, Marquardt & Roche and Partners
won both the first place and the second place print titles for
Product Advertising at the 2007 ACE Awards.
The ACE Awards is sponsored by the New York Business Marketing
Association, and is in its 25th year. It has been named by The
New York Times as "one of the six best creative awards" in the
country. Winners in other categories at this year's competition
include McCann Erikson for Verizon, Ogilvy for DHL and IBM, Campbell-Ewald
for United States Postal Service and JWT for CDW.
MRP's winning efforts were for FUJIFILM Medical Systems. The
first place ad promoted Synapse, a multi-modality image management
system, and its particular capability working with data-intensive
digital mammography images. The runner up ad promoted a closely
related product, FCRm, a digital x-ray system specifically designed
to capture the digital mammography images which can later be managed
by Synapse.
Howard Meditz, MRP's president, offered his feelings on the agency's
accomplishment:
"Many years ago I came to believe that a great ad is not
made by the extensive resources of a large advertising agency,
but rather by a couple of smart people shut in a room. If you've
got the right people, that's pretty much all you need."
"It's nice every once in a while to have that belief validated.
And it's also nice to have the opportunity to provide a pretentious
quote like this at the end of a press release that includes the
words "Ogilvy", "JWT" and "McCann".
